Montefiore Medical Center Website Design
Overview
In 2004, Montefiore Medical Center was stuck – despite performing one of the world’s premiere surgeries on conjoined twins at its Children’s Hospital, they could not communicate this momentous occasion from their web site. The site's fragile coding and lack of CSS meant that small edits would throw off templates within whole sections. There was no centralized set of instructions on how to make edits to pages resources.
The Solution
- Destroy the old site and begin again – new design, new copy, and new technology.
- Re-architect the site to focus around service line offerings.
- Develop maps and directions to help patients navigate their two urban campuses.
- Integrate health library content to support patient decision-making online.
The Results
- After relaunch, Montefiore.org grew 50%+ in visitors every year thereafter.
- Drove 250,000 telephone requests per year.
- Over a four year period, MedTouch redesigned and developed the main hospital site, the Children’s Hospital site, a professionals site, a public relations site, and elevated their leading service line, Heart, to a major section of the site.
- Successfully passed off site maintenance to a new internal team, where the design continues to be applied today, nearly four years later.
Awards
- Since 2004, Montefiore.org has received eHealthcare Leadership Best Site Design Award and 10 other industry awards
